Before I can find my seat she\u2019s already sitting, coat on her lap, book in her hand. I can\u2019t imagine a better travel partner. She used to make me sandwiches and a thermos each morning, so I could have breakfast on the way to work. Back then we didn\u2019t have much time to travel by train together, only after retiring did I realise what a deprivation that had been. Not that she was overly sociable. I chuckle. She promptly dove into the world between her reading glasses and the page.
